Slacker Friday

Once again, it is Friday and I slack. In lieu of a long essay, I would like to call your attention to a remarkably informative and profoundly educational public conference that was held in the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, DC yesterday entitled Al Qaeda 2.0: Transnational Terrorism After 9/11. The gathering was sponsored by the New American Foundation and the Center on Law and Security at, my alma mater, New York University.

The
conference featured panel discussions from a who's who of terrorism experts, scholars, counter-terrorism agents, and assorted thinkers. The events were televised on C-Span yesterday, and again last night, and it is possible that C-Span will replay the coverage over the weekend, so keep your eyes open.

In the meantime, C-Span has
the video available at its website. If you have the time this weekend, I strongly recommend a viewing. Take advantage of this is unique and unprecedented amassing of the best and brightest in the field. The contributions of these speakers are invaluable to understanding the nature of al-Qaeda and the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism.
