Pangs, Bangs and Armed Gangs
I don't have time for fuller comment on this incredible piece by David Rose on the role the Bush administration played in fueling the intra-Palestinian civil war in Gaza, but it is too important an article to sit on until an opportunity arises. Suffice it to say, there is no happy ending, only death, destruction and chaos (but hey, this is Bush administration foreign policy we're talking about - what did you expect?). On a side note, attempting to topple democratically elected governments through armed coups is, I suppose, just another of those famous birth pangs Condi Rice keeps talking about. Freedom marching, etc.
Once you've finished the Rose piece, you'll realize (to the extent that you haven't already) that people should be paying more attention to the advice Gershom Gorenberg is doling out over at TAPPED.
